As the sun rises over the dusty Afghan landscape, John Rambo, still haunted by the horrors of war, has found solace in a Thai monastery. He has left behind the chaos of Vietnam, attempting to rebuild his life and find some measure of peace. However, when Colonel Sam Trautman, his former commanding officer and friend, requests his assistance on a top-secret mission, Rambo's tranquility is shattered. Trautman explains that Soviet forces have invaded Afghanistan, slaughtering innocent civilians and forcing the country into chaos. He believes that only Rambo can help the rebels in their fight against the communist invaders. Despite his reservations, Rambo agrees to join Trautman on a perilous journey to Afghanistan. Upon arrival, Rambo is shocked by the brutal treatment of the Afghan people at the hands of the Soviet forces. He witnesses the destruction of villages, the slaughter of innocent civilians, and the torture of prisoners.
